G&J’s Chinese wedding last weekend brought me to Hung Hom and Choi Hung in Kowloon, then finally to the banquet at the Harbour Grand hotel in North Point on the Hong Kong Island side. An early start for wedding games and tea ceremony is always tough, but I must say that the bridesmaids had some entertaining activities planned for the groomsmen. Sure I’ve seen grown men wear underwear on the outside of their pants before, but this was the first time I’ve seen those same men proceed to drink warm PBR out of baby bottles. That beer is bad enough cold and out of the can!
Highlight for me was seeing the groom’s Dad let out a little weep right before tea ceremony (but in authoritarian Dad manner, he composed himself before I could grab a snapshot. I’ll get you next time!). It became clear that Jon and his Dad had a very special bond. I know this stuff happens all the time during the big day, but this was still an “awww” moment for me.
Overall it was a jam-packed day that was amazing fun, especially being my first wedding as a primary shooter. Can’t wait to try out some more new things next weekend! Here are a couple of images from the day.
