In celebration of the Major League Baseball season starting yesterday (and the Yankees losing), I decided to get off my butt and throw together the time lapse I shot during last year’s NFL season opener (fyi “NFL” means AMERICAN football). I always love the start of a new season, because it usually means happier times for my teams before they inevitably collapse midway (NY Giants 2009) or at the end of the year (any recent NY Mets team).
I thoroughly enjoyed that late, late September night when Jason and Chulie (= Chinese Julie) came over equipped with beer, bacon and ribs. We watched the New York Giants host the Washington Redskins over streamed video from my Slingbox in the US.
This was a fun exercise with the time lapse feature of my camera. I set the D700 on manual with a tripod behind my TV and let it fire away (although I was so distraught thinking about shutter actuations I forgot to preset the white balance but that was easy to fix in post). I should probably really try to shoot something that is actually pretty to watch, like a dramatic sunset or maybe a flower growing. But until then you’ll have to enjoy watching these three couch potatoes sit around the couch falling asleep instead! Sorry!

That was incredible. I have a new love for time lapse.
‘Twas cool. Ideas for time lapsing:
Slow moving water vapor – Clouds, high up views of fog
Plants blooming/wilting – natch
Crowds – rush hour, people filing into/out of stadium
Car traffic, or insect traffic
ice melting
rain
…….SNAILS!!!!!!!
awesome. shooting the superbowl next time should be hella fun!
great glimpse into your NFL season, life in HKG, and apartment
