Sarah and Stu married each other in the UK, but last November they celebrated the first year anniversary of their wedding day in their new home – Hong Kong. We decided to have the anniversary portrait session at Victoria Peak Garden, a spot that is slowly becoming one of my favorite shooting spots for its green grass, blue skies and beautiful sunset light.

To shoot it, I used a tripod with the camera, dark-colored curtains as a backdrop, and a single off-camera flash blasting full power into a black reflective umbrella (a shoot-thru would’ve spilled too much light all over the small room). Aperture was set to somewhere between F/14-F/22, ISO 200, and the exposure was about 8 seconds long, giving each model plenty of time to doodle nonsense with keychain LED lights. Lastly, I tethered the camera to my laptop so everyone was able to see the shot right away. Great job guys, check them out!

I had scouted a few locations in the park that I liked the day before, but beyond that we also revisited a few spots near the marriage registry office to reenact some shots and poses from their original wedding photos from four years ago. Awwww! great idea!
